Hey all and welcome to my blog Video Game Overload. I’m just an ordinary woman who likes to play video games. I also enjoy writing about things and having opinions.
I want to write about all sorts of different topics within the video game world. From the games them selves to the industry itself. I want to talk about all the new games that are coming out as well as all the old ones too. If I can play it I’ll write about it.
I wanted to start this blog as a way to just have some fun, practice my writing and to help me stay motivated to play all those damn games. This blog is a personal one and while I will be giving an unbiased opinion on things, I’ll also have a lot of personal things to say as well. If you don’t like what content I create well to bad; creative criticism is welcome however!

I’ve played a lot of games in my lifetime. have been since I was a tiny child. I grew up watching my parents play games from a very young age. Going by my oh so reliable memory I’d say since I was about 4 years old. If you were to ask what my very first gaming experience was I really can’t tell you. It comes down to either Ocorina Of Time; for which I watched my mother play hundreds of hours and Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets on the Game boy colour.
Since then I continued to grow up and video games never left me. I’m so grateful that I never felt I needed or had to give this medium that I hold very close to my heart.
Over the last few years I’ve made the jump from console to PC. I still own and play on console but only ever for those beautiful exclusives. I started to play more and more indie games; as well as different types and genres of games also. with the help of humble bundle my library was so full…. of the most random and seemingly horrible games. I didn’t care I just wanted all the games. It got to a point and I realised that I should aim for quality over quantity. Thus began my journey to play just about every game that you could fathom. I’ve played a lot of games I really didn’t enjoy because of this… but I also found some of my all time favourites this way so it evens out.
Along the way I developed major anxiety over video games. I felt horrible and embarrassed that I hadn’t played every game known to man; it felt like I wasn’t a real gamer. The more games that came out the worse it got. 2018 rolled around and I was so tired of feeling this way. I wont touch on the details here but I have overcome this anxiety for the most part.
I still like to play as many games as I can but I no longer feel I need to, Just wan’t to. I like to take my time and get to games when I can and just enjoy them; live them for a while. Asides from Battle royals I like to play just about anything and I’ll give anything a go.

I’m adding this in because right now it is necessary. I have no upload or writing schedule; while I do want to write as much as possible however. I unfortunately work shift work in retail… This means that while I want to write I don’t have set days off and sometimes don’t even get any in a week. All in all I just want to get the hang of writing and blogging again before I get to serious.

I have a ton of Goals when it comes to video games. These are all long term and if I ever hit them, well I’ll have fun trying at least. This is another reason I wanted to start this blog, to help me stay motivated and actually complete at least one of these. As of right now I only have 4 major goals but there might be more in the future.
- play every single final fantasy game I can get my hands on!
- Complete the pokedex (I got really lazy after gen 5)
- obtain the Loremaster achievement (WoW)
- actually finish my backlog (I really don’t think that will ever happen but oh well )
